Day 1 – Gateway Airport Home/Lhasa
Check in at your International Airport for a connection flight for Lhasa.
Cross the International Date Line.
Day 2 – Lhasa
Change the connection flight and arrive at Lhasa, the Capital of Tibet. You will be met at the airport by your tour guide and transferred to the hotel.
Day 3 – Lhasa
Full day city tour at Lhasa, visit UNESCO World Heritage site Potala Palace, situated at 12,139 feet above the sea level, it is the winter residence of Dalai Lama. Visit Jokhang Temple, another UNESCO site, serves as a spiritual center for Buddhists in Tibet. Next is colorful Bakhor Street, filled with pilgrims and street vendors, selling praying wheels and jewelry.
Day 4 – Lhasa
Visit Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet,built in 1416, also the former residence of Dalai Lama. Visit Sera Monastery, built in 1419, seeing the monk debate..
Day 5 – Lhasa
Visit Norbulingka, the summer residence of Dalai Lama, built in 1740. Visit Romache Temple built in Tang Dynasty. Seeing Yak skin boat at Lhasa River.
Day 6 – Lhasa/Samye Monastery Exursion/Lhasa
Bus excursion along Brahmaputra River for 180 miles to visit Samye Monastery, built in 8th Century, it is the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet. It is also the first monastery to have the three Buddhist jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, with such an unique feature in Tibet.
Day 7 – Lhasa/Gyantse/Shigatse
Bus excursion cross the Gampala Pass (14,500 feet) and get a glimpse of Lake Yamdrok-Tso, surrounded by snow mountain. Visit Pelkor Monastery at Gyantse. Arrive at Shigatse, the 2nd largest city in Tibet.
Day 8 – Shigatse/Lhasa
Explore Tashilunpo Monastery of Gelug Sect, the seat of the Panchen Lama, built in 1447. The monastery houses a giant statue of the Maitreya Buddha, the biggest gilded stature of Maitreya (Buddha of Future) in the world. The monastery also houses the tomb of all the Panchen Lama, containing jewels and gold. Bus return to Lhasa.
Day 9 – Lhasa/Gateway Airport Home
Morning flight to catch up the connection flight to the Gateway Airport home, where you will arrive on the same day (some flight schedule arrive on the next day).
